【ぷち役員会 2022年5月30日】
娘がEテレ「おかあさんといっしょ」の観覧抽選に当たりました。VPE役員Sの家ではここ数週間、踊りの振りを覚えようと狂ったように必死なお母さんの姿が見られました。
さて、役員会の始まりです。
先づ俎上に上がりましたのは、
offensiveなゲストへの対応です。
いろいろな案が出ましたが、
・トーストマスターズの魂に立ち返る
・クラブ規約を事前にメール送信する
という対応となりました。
トーストマスターの魂とは、
Integrity 高潔
Respect 尊重
Service 奉仕
Excellence 卓越
で、
IntegrityとRespectがExcellenceの前にあるのは、Excellenceよりもマエの2つのほうが大事だからです。

柏の役員会はクラブハウスで行うことが多いのですが、内職しながらが多いです。集中が続かないのもあるし、内職から閃くこともありますからね。
いつもは折り紙をされている会計役員のHさんですが、今晩はミリ単位の紙で花を造られていたようです。それが細か～～くて美しい！！

ひとしきりのおしゃべりの後、
話題は会費値上げに移ります。
いまは3回／月で千円を頂戴しています。
・日本語ワークショップ 第1週土
・英語ディスカッションワークショップ 第2週土
・英語例会 第4週土
宣伝費と通信費が予算を圧迫しつつあるなか、国際本部への送金前に決めないといけませんね。
200円～400円の値上げを検討しています。
値下げは踏み切りやすいのですが、値上げとなると慎重になってしまいます。
次の話題は、
6/11（土）日本語ワークショップのテーマです。
このワークショップについては、外国人に日本語を教えておられるHさんがテーマ決めてくれます。役員として、八面六臂の活躍をしてくださっています。
最後の話題は、イベント企画です。
クラブハウスの大物スピーカーをお招きし、レクチャーして頂く計画をしています。教育者、トレイナーそしてコーチである香港在住のMさんです。これから計画を煮詰めていかないといけません。
シンプルな英語がパッと出てくるようになりたいなぁと思うので、非常に興味があります。

My wife and daughter snagged tickets for free TV show taping.
”OKAA SAN TO ISSHO".
Kashiwa’s VPE’s wife practiced dancing crazily for the TV show debut. The show is like “Wiggle Time” in Australia. ha ha
The meeting started on Clubhouse.
We put ideas on the table. They were the ideas how to deal with an offensive guest. We decided as follows.
・Going back to the basics.
・E-mail the person saying Toastmasters International’s Rule
And this is what our VPM, T-san advised us.
What are Toastmasters’ Core Values?
The reason why ‘Integrity’ and ‘Respect’ comes first?
Because they ARE more important than Excellence and Service.
Even if the offensive guest’s English is great, without ‘excellence’ ‘respect’, there would not be any seats for him in Toastmasters Club.

Our officers meeting is often held on Clubhouse. We are all busy so we do something else while discussing at the meeting.
In fact, we sometimes lose concentration. On the other hand we get great idea off the top of our head during doing something else.
Treasurer and secretary, Madam H was folding paper. It was really detailed handcraft work and so beautiful it takes my breath away.

We chatted for a while, we moved on the next topic.
We are going to raise the membership dues.
Currently, the membership fee is ¥1,000 for 3 meetings a month. (Japanese Discussion, English Discussion Workshop, English Regular Meeting)
Kashiwa TMC’s finances, communication expenses and publicity ones, are under strain.
We have to decide a little change by the coming term.
From the next term, perhaps, the dues will increase by ¥200～¥400.
When it comes to raise in price, we get nervous.
Our next topic was “Easy-to-Understand Japanese”session.
H-san is teaching Japanese to her friends from overseas.
And she decides Theme and topics. She plays several roles and she is versatile as a club officer.
Last but not least, we discussed another event in near future.
We are having one of the iconic moderators of Clubhouse.
She is an educator, a trainer and a coach, living in Hong Kong.
We are discussing a lot.
I’d like to come up with the right English word like her. I’m looking forward to the event.
