【つぶやき】英語で敬語？
長女が小学2年生にあがりました。
担任の先生はどんな感じ？と訊くと
「ちょっと怖い」とのこと。。。
今日担任の先生を囲んでの懇談会があったのですが、先生が子どもたちと接するときに大切にしていることを聞くことができました。
先生に対しては敬語を使うよう指導している
なるほどな～と思いました。「ちょっと怖い」わけだ。
でも、マクドナルドの接客、就職の面接でようやく敬語を意識し始めた自分にはありがたい教育方針だなとも感じました。
英語も同じことが言えると思います。

My oldest daughter became a 2nd grader.
I asked what she thought about her new homeroom teacher?
She said that the she was a little scary.
We had a meeting with the homeroom teacher at school today
And the teacher said what the most important thing was when you interact with the children.
She told the students to use "respect expressions: Keigo" to their teachers.
I see. I understood why my girl felt the teacher was scary. But I appreciated giving my child a good lesson.
Because I was becoming aware of KEIGO：honorifics when I had a job interview.
After that I started using a respect language serving customers at Mc Donal’s.
I think the same can be said for English.
